Is your newsletter too long? 📚

A general rule of thumb based on the data we've gathered.

Many people think that they need to cram as much information as possible into their newsletter.

But here's the truth: people don't read long newsletters.

When was the last time you read a 1,000+ word email from start to finish? 🤔

Exactly.

So, what's the sweet spot in our experience? Anywhere from 200 to 500 words.

  • It's more approachable and realistic for readers.

  • You can still communicate valuable, tactical information.

  • It allows for more specific, focused topics.

If you have longer topics you want to cover, break them into bite-sized pieces over 3-5 weeks.

You get more material, and you keep your content super specific and tactical.

How would I structure those 500 words?

Lead with specific, actionable value (first 200-300 words), and drive to a call-to-action (~100 words) that organically ties into the content.

(We’ll talk more on crafting that CTA next week 👀)

How do we know this works?

A LOT of testing 😅
